Linux System Administrator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Design, build, deploy and administer/manage the current and future Linux platforms.

2.Senior level of operational support on Redhat Entreprise Linux (RHEL):

- Troubleshooting, incidents and problem management,

- Reporting and communication.

3.Assist new implementations of all System Infrastructure components such as

- Physical and virtual servers,

- Middleware components (backup, scheduling, monitoring, etc.)

4.Pro-active in ensuring stability, response time, operational consistency and life cycle over the Linux operating systems.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Participate to the search and qualification of related solutions such as monitoring, backup, patch management

2.Provide monthly reports on activity, quality and performance of the Linux environments.

3.Ensure appropriate documentation, including procedures for level 2 and level 3 supports.

PRIMARY TECHNICAL ABILITIES:

Installation, administration, and troubleshooting in the following Linux areas:

- Automating OS install and update,

- Managing services and startup,

- Configuring network,

- Managing RPM packets,

- Performance analysis (on a physical server or virtual server platform),

- Managing disk volumes in a SAN environment using dm-multipath and LVM,

- Tuning system & kernel,

- Managing users and security,

- PAM, SELinux,

- Advanced Shell scripting (bash, awk, sed, perl).

- Management of system services: printing, FTP, NFS, syslog, SNMP, etc.

SECONDARY TECHNICAL ABILITIES:

- Management of Linux operating systems in a VMware virtualized environment

- Monitoring security alerts and bug reports from the editor and planning for patching of operating systems

- Management of HP-UX operating systems

BEHAVIOR ABILITIES:

1.10 years experience in infrastructure, with 5 years specifically on Linux operating systems,

2.Self motivated, eager to learn in the IT profession,

3.Team player must be able to work with people within and outside of the IT department,

4.Customer service oriented,

5.Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. English speaking mandatory,

6.Ability to analyze and synthesize situations and understand the business constraints,

7.Willing to do some traveling.

OS Server: Linux RedHat Enterprise version 5, 6 and 7,

Hardware: x86 DELL servers,

Storage: SAN block storage disk arrays,

VMWare virtualization.

Veeam and CommVault backup tools.
